Death by Chocolate

Moist and delicious chocolate sponge, with chocolate ganache filling, chocolate buttercream and white and milk chocolate roses. Okay you'll hear your arteries hardening as you eat this. But if you've gotta die, best do it with a smile on your face.

I would just like to say that no customers died in the eating of this cake, go get some benecol and all will be well.

Elmo's Sesame Treat (Lactose Free)

Hey, hey, hey, everything's A-okay when you get your cakes from KarmaCake. This vanilla and buttercream sponge cake was especially made for a four year old who's lactose intollerant and contains no milk. What it lacks in fat and calcium, it more than makes up in yummy-ness. Tickle-me Elmo!

Deathly Hallows? No way, there's nothing deathly about this Golden Snitch cake made for Tony's 16th Birthday, with edible wings and puzling mottoe. Abra-ca-de-licious vanilla sponge and tropical fruit jam, covered in white chocolate with gold shimmer. Yum.

The Muffins are back... and bigger than ever.

The muffins are back! We've improved on the recipe and with our new muffin cases (fresh from the Southend Garden Show) they're bigger than ever. Our Triple Chocolate Muffins have more choc-chips and our Blueberry Muffins now come with a crumbly coating and loads more juicy blueberries. We hope you like them as much as we do.

The Southend Summer Garden Show @ Garon Park - 29th, 30th and 31st of August.

Sorry to all our usual customers at the Epping Farmers Market for us not attending last weekend, but we do have a legitimate excuse. We've been stocking up on ingredients, a brand new sign, bags and well, all-sorts of things for the Southend Garden Show this Bank Holiday weekend at Garon Park.

More than 300 exhibitors will be attending this weekend for the largest Garden Show in the Essex Region. Some of the regions top nurseries and landscaping talent that the country has to offer, along side an extensive array of garden retail products, the Southend Garden Show is a celebration of Essex lifestyle and the great outdoors.

Staged within one of Southend's premium parks (and the current home of Essex County Cricket Team) - Garon Park, this prestigious show is well established and enjoyed by around 20,000 visitors each year.

This years event will feature over 300 exhibitors, including nurseries, landscapers, gardening sundries a delicious food & drink, crafts and new for 2009 meet BBC's Christine Walkden at the show in her Gardening Theatre in the main exhibiton hall. It's a big show and there's plenty to see and do so come along for a great day out.

The show is open this weekend from 9:30am until 5pm at Garon Park, Eastern Avenue, Southend on Sea, SS2 4FA.

Naughty but nice...

We know it's not all about weddings and birthdays at KarmaCake. We can bake cakes for any occasions, including hen-nights, graduations, anniversaries and even divorces. Yep, it's a bit off the wall but cakes are fun and we can create cakes for any celebration or family get-together. Above is one of our designs for a hen-night. I think the picture says it all. Tropical Fruit Flan

The weather may not be the greatest, but hey, it's summer anyway. Just arrived at our Epping Sale are delicious Tropical Fruit Flans. Fresh Pineapple, Kiwi, and Dragon fruit, with English Strawberries and Blackcurrants. Delicious whatever the weather, but especially on a hot summer sunday afternoon or as a desert for a summer barbeque. Enjoy!

Claire & Matthew's Wedding Cupcakes

Congratulations to Claire & Matthew who celebrated their wedding this week. Above is a close-up of some of the cupcakes on show at their Wedding Reception at The Old Rectory, a full size picture of the Wedding Cupcakes can be seen in our gallery on the right-hand side of the screen.

For Claire & Matthew we built the cakes around a design they saw on the internet and created 100 Madeira Cupcakes. Each topped with flower-paste flowers and blossoms in pastel colours. The Cupcakes are wrapped in Filigree Paper Wrappers. For the top-tier we made a 7" Vanilla Sponge, full of fluffy goodness. This was topped with a posey of real flowers.

Pastures new.

A big thank you to everyone who came out to Epping for the boot sale. We did really well, had a few nice chats and lots of interest in our wedding & birthday cakes. Gonna have a brief snooze then going to get down to making sugar paste flowers for the wedding cake for saturday.

We're moving...

We're moving to new pastures, demand from our last visit to the Toll House Boot Sale means we're leaving Dunton for the greener pastures of Epping from this Sunday. The good news is that it means we can all have a bit of a lay in on Sundays as the Toll House is open from 11am til 5pm instead of Dunton's stupid O'clock start. We're a bit sad to be laving Dunton and all the regulars we have met but hope that some of you might follow us a few miles up the M11. We hope to see you there in future.

Anyone for tennis?

With the nonsense of Wimbledon starting monday it seems only right for us to be selling more delicious Strawberries with cool, and fresh whipped double-cream. If that information doesn't have you salivating we've got another treat. Okay it might be a bit of a seventies throwback but Adrian has created another fantastic Black Forest Gateau. Rich Chocolate sponge with Black Cherry and Vanilla Creme filling. Sprinkled with Milk Chocolate Vermicilli and topped with Black Cherries. Lovelly! We will be selling this either by the slice with whipped cream or in a slightly different loaf cake which you can take home and enjoy.

Size isn't everything, no, no, really.

We've all heard it before, size isn't everything. Well this has been proved right today because the Dunton Boot Sale was 'rained-off' today had a huge amount of cakes baked yesterday that needed selling. So we ended up instead heading to Epping. Yes we we're a little concerned upon discovering there were only about 30 traders on site, but hey an hour passed and well we were busier than ever. Thanks to everyone showing an interest and especially those of you who bought from us. We did really well thanks to your business. Cheers.

Don't panic!!!

The Dunton Boot Sale is OFF today because of all the wetness. Don't panic! We have a cunning plan, and should hopefully instead be going to the Premier Market Boot Sale in Epping instead because they open later. So hopefully the rain should stop by then. According to the organisers their market is still on today for you to visit from 11am. The details are as follows: The market is located at Toll House Field, Woodside, Thornwood, Epping, CM16 6LG. Open to traders from 10am and everyone else from 11am. So guess what, it's back to bed for a couple of hours, and fingers crossed the sun will be shining soon.

Golden Rose Cupcakes

Just a little thing we're working on for a spectacular Golden Rose Cupcake Tower. Fluffy Raspberry and Blueberry Muffins coated in buttercream, golden dragees and flower-paste gold roses. Beautiful.

50th Birthday Cake

A great present for a 50th Birthday. Adrian has just finished decorating this beautiful 50th Birthday Cake. A fluffy madiera with a strawberry and buttercream filling, coated in fondant icing with royal icing details. The fondant icing is a metallic cobalt blue which will shimmer in the candlelight.
